Role:
Stuart Irvine
Chair
About me....
I have chaired the steering group since November 2022, with the objective of completing the community purchase. I have been passionate about a community buy-out of the Salusbury Arms for the past five years and at times it has seemed a distant dream. However, we have to make it work and realise the many benefits of a community pub. I went forward for the management committee, to provide continuity and to play my part in making it a success. I have experience of leading community activities, managing major projects and successful grant applications.

Role:
Jane Marsh
Vice Chair
About me...
I have been involved in the purchase of The Salusbury Arms for a number of years since it closed in 2018 and I am very keen to see it succeed as a community business. As a person with a background in both Corporate business and a small business owner, I aim to bring commercial rigour to the management of the business. I have also successfully applied for both grants and planning applications professionally and personally which I believe will be an important part of the future of the Community Business. I manage my small business and my smallholding following environmentally sustainable principles - something which I feel will be critical for all businesses for the future. I have managed volunteers on behalf of a range of charities such as the National Trust, Woodland Trust and British Trust for Conservation volunteers and am an MBA graduate with distinctions in Company Strategy and Innovation which I am confident will be relevant to serving on the Management Committee.

Role:
Ruth Glover
Secretary
About me...
I have lived in Tremeirchion with my family for over 15years. Not long after we moved here, we became involved in the Tremeirchion 2000 (T2000) group; we are actively involved with organising and supporting community activities throughout the year. We have had various roles on the T2000 group, I have acted as Secretary for many years and now act as Vice-Chair and my husband acts as Treasurer (we also get our daughter Sophie involved with supporting many activities). I am a registered nurse with over 25 years experience; I currently work as a Senior Specialist Nurse and am actively involved with committees, risk management, audit & research, staff management, policy & procedure development, etc. I regard myself as being an extremely patient personality; as a nurse I deal with members of the public on a daily basis, I am open, honest, non-judgemental, empathetic, caring, compassionate and extremely hard-working. Outside of work I have had many and various roles in the voluntary sector. I was involved in Scouting for 25years, running the Beaver Scout section on my own for many years. This role required me to be involved with committees, risk management, event organisation, public & people engagement and involvement and volunteer management, etc. I am currently a school governor at my daughter’s school; I act as Vice-Chair on that group and am the link-governor for Additional Learning Needs which requires me to be involved with critical decision making. I wanted to join the management committee of Tremeirchion Community Pub Ltd because I am passionate and recognise the importance of the pub as our community hub. I have been actively involved with the steering group; the sourcing of Community Ownership Fund (COF) monies, the purchase of the building and transition planning. My vision would be for the building to act not only as a pub but to be so much more; I believe it should be a multi-use community space, for the community owned by the community.

Now working for one the the UKs largest electronic point of sale suppliers, I head a team of consultants working alongside some of the largest pub and restaurant chains. About me...
I put myself forward for the management committee to help make this community ownership a success, and to see the Salusbury Arms thrive. As a lifelong resident of Tremeirchion, I am a huge supporter of the pub, and I feel as a young, entrepreneur, I would be a good addition to this management committee. Having worked in, and managed a long running and successful hospitality company for many years, before I started my own floristry business in 2020. I feel from my past employment, and through being self-employed, I have gained the practical expertise, of working within a busy pub/restaurant/catering company, and also good business knowledge, all of which will help understand what is needed to run an outstanding hospitality business. I am an open, and friendly individual who can work well within a group, as well as being self motivated and driven to work on tasks which may be required within my role in the management committee.

About me...
I wanted to be involved in the Management Committee for several reasons. Being fairly new to the village and the fact that it had a pub was an attraction in itself. Then being given an opportunity to invest in that pub & help secure its future meant we willingly invested in shares. I think that the opportunity to grow the current business and EVOLVE the pub into providing more to the village & surrounding communities than is currently on offer is a good idea. I firmly believe that we, as a community, have done a fantastic job in raising the funding in order to purchase the Salusbury & now need to build on that solid foundation and grow the business in a way that the Communuty wants; getting each stage up & running before embarking on the next phase of its development. I am not some high flying professional; my history is that for the past 30 years I concentrated on raising our children & helped to run our farming business; doing a variety of jobs within the business . Prior to having children I was a practice Manager & Qualified Dental Nurse & since moving to Tremeirchion I have worked Part time as a Receptionist in St.Asaph. Therefore my skill set that I would bring to the committee is a broad one, rather than a specialist one; having gained a wide variety of skills & practical experience. I am prepared to do a variety of tasks and work with the committee & investors to help secure the future of our community pub.
