It's been a busy month... Here's a look back at August

As some of you would have been aware, on Friday 18th August at 11:59am, all documents were finalised on the purchase of the Salusbury and with 4 hours until opening, through the efforts of many, the pub was opened under community ownership that evening.

That’s not to say there weren’t hurdles to jump through – one being the glass washer not functioning, but with the support of those attending, everyone drank from clean glasses, the atmosphere was brilliant and we were able to direct all credit card payments directly into the TCPL bank account. You will also be happy to know by Wednesday, we had a new machine installed and glasses are now sparkling!

In the background, the Management Committee have been receiving and reviewing quotes for maintenance and upgrades of the building and getting quote after quote for repairs and upgrades - from fixing the odd roof tile to changing the locks on the doors. We’ve been reviewing suppliers of everything from cleaning supplies, right down to where we get the lemonade! The list is never ending and although it continues to grow, we are ensuring that we are doing everything by the book and are compliant on every level.

Pub Management and Opening Times:

As you were made aware in previous communication, we were notified of Julie deciding not to continue her role at the Salusbury at very short notice. We would again like to extend our thanks for her support in ensuring the pub stayed open right up until her departure and wish her well in her new endeavours. Within 24 hours, the Management Committee recruited Drew James, who has kindly stepped in as Manager at the Salusbury having also been involved in the Steering Committee to advise on licensing and general running of the pub. While we await him being able to join us full time, we have had to reduce some of the opening hours.

These reduced opening hours for the pub are as follows:

Friday 1st September 16:00 – 23:00

Saturday 2nd September 12:00 – 23:00

Sunday 3rd September 12:00 – 20:00

From September 4th we will have the following opening hours:

Monday CLOSED

Tuesday CLOSED

Wednesday 16:00 – 23:00

Thursday 16:00 – 23:00

Friday 16:00 – 23:00

Saturday 12:00 – 23:00

Sunday 12:00 – 20:00

As or when these change, we will update you.

The Management Committee have supported Drew in contacting many of those who regularly book in social events and club meetings to communicate the interim opening hours and to ensure the pub diary is up to date. We also welcome any new social clubs who would like to use the Salusbury and ask that they pop in and discuss their requirements with Drew.

The Tea Shop

We know that customers of the Tea Shop are disappointed that this temporarily closed. We have set up a working group to get this open as soon as we can and will be communicating when we have timescales. We have some exciting plans in the pipeline!

Would anyone interested in volunteering and supporting the tearoom, please express your interest to the Management Committee as we aim to have some working groups in the near future, and we would really like to have your input – you can always email us, speak to one of the committee direct, or complete the forms on our website (link below).

Volunteering:

In recent days we have reached out to those who showed an interest in volunteering in some manual work in and around the pub. In the coming weeks, we will be carrying out some exterior tidying up of the grounds, clearing and maintenance. If you would be interested in taking part in this, we do ask for a response back to: TremeirchionCommunityPub@outlook.com in order for the team to understand the level of interest and numbers.

If you are interested in joining the volunteers mailing list, then please let us know and you can offer your support - https://www.tremeirchioncommunitypub.org/howtosupport (Alternatively, if you drop into the pub, you can pass your details onto Drew).

There will be many more opportunities for people to get involved going forward, but we do need to take it a step at a time. The Management Committee are always open for feedback and suggestions, so please do not hesitate to get in contact with any of the team, we will also be putting a suggestion box in the pub in the coming weeks.

What are our next steps?

The management committee are working endlessly to ensure the pub operates according to all the relevant regulations. Doing things right from the outset is key to our future success – that mean liaising with numerous organisations like Health and Safety, Denbighshire Licencing the Food Standards Agency, Environmental Health, and the Government COF fund stakeholders and of course – lots and lots of paperwork!!

Final words…

Thank you again for your ongoing support of our community pub, we can’t do it without you!

Also, if you are a user of Facebook, if you wish to keep updated as to some of the regular happenings at the pub, you can follow the pub and see daily updates of opening hours, events and more: https://www.facebook.com/TheSalusburyArms or why not just pop in and see what’s going on?

Many Thanks

The Management Committee
