"Plans to take Tremeirchion’s much-loved Salusbury Arms pub into community ownership have made great strides forward recently. After a 14-month period of closure, the lease of the pub has been taken up by a local couple Richard and Sue Green in 2019, who set up the award-winning Dovecote Brewery in Denbigh.
Following an approach from the owner to sell the pub, a small steering group took on the challenge of keeping the historic pub open. In early November, the steering group set up an open meeting in Tremeirchion church to discuss the possibility of community ownership for the pub. As well as attracting new recruits to the steering group, a decision was taken to seek pledges of funding from Tremeirchion residents. Within just two weeks, the impressive sum of £140,000 pounds had been pledged. Following this, the steering group submitted a proposal to the Government's Community Ownership Fund in mid-December and will hear the result in the spring.
Shares in that Tremeirchion Community Pub will be on sale for a six week period starting in February. The aim is to raise 200,000 pounds, which, with support from the Community Ownership Fund, will be sufficient to purchase and relaunch the pub.
